As part of its ongoing program supporting the integration of migrant-origin youth into the European labor market, the Suse Foundation recently hosted an inspiring event. Young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds came together to share their experiences and discuss the challenges they face on the path to employment.

The program aims to improve long-term employability and promote social inclusion. In line with this goal, participants receive support through soft skills development, personalized mentoring, coaching sessions, and inter-institutional collaborations.
The event brought together high school and university students as well as young individuals preparing to enter the workforce or seeking a career change. One of the most frequently voiced concerns was the lack of work experience, which many participants felt made it harder to find a job. Some also pointed out that being of migrant background can negatively impact equal opportunity in hiring processes.

Key soft skills highlighted during the event included communication, teamwork, time management, responsibility, and initiative-taking. While internships provided by educational institutions were appreciated, participants emphasized that they are not sufficient on their own for successful labor market integration.

To bridge these gaps, the Suse Foundation continues to develop comprehensive programs that offer mentorship, build self-confidence, and prepare youth for real-world employment challenges.
One participant summed it up perfectly at the end of the event:
“These kinds of programs not only help us gain experience, but also strengthen our belief in ourselves.”
At Suse Foundation, we believe in the potential of youth and remain committed to building a more inclusive society by supporting their journey.
